Inter-Faith Ministries has been serving the poor in Wichita for 125 years.
Inter-Faith Ministries provides a variety of critical services to the Wichita community with two homeless shelters and 104 low-cost apartments with case manager support; addresses issues of food insecurity and provides emergency food assistance; collects gently used coats and food for those in need during the holiday season.

Sometimes, perhaps not often enough, we stop to recognize the good things that happen in Wichita. Those good things happen because of people who are inspired by their spirit to serve their fellow man. They achieve remarkable things without asking for anything in return. Acknowledging their gifts to others and this community is very appropriate. Faith Ministries recognizes special people from diverse religious faiths whose faith inspires change for the better. It is our purpose through Inter-Faith Ministries to foster understanding and respect among people of all religions, races, and cultures by engaging them in service and in dialogue. The Humanitarian Awards emphasize the importance of recognizing the role that faith plays in the lives of our local humanitarians. Belief in God, or a higher power, teaches us to believe that no one person is greater than another is. Instead, their faith leads them to serve others, particularly those in need.
Star Lumber Company – Golden Rule Award recognizes a company or employee group committed to make a difference in this community. Through philanthropy and/or leadership, they signify fellowship towards others who are in need.
Timothy Relph – Light of Faith Award recognizes those whose faith lights the way to serve others. Driven by faith, demonstrates a passion and commitment to transform lives lapsing over time or in the glimpse of a moment. The recipient acts as a light of hope and faith to all of us.
Paul and Margaret Miller – Peace by Piece Award honors an individual or couple whose faith guides them to help those in need regardless of faith or culture. The recipient, through grassroots efforts, builds a better community piece by piece.
Dear Neighbor Ministries – Spirit of Faith Award recognizes a faith based organization or group whose actions exemplify IFM’s vision for people to cross lines of faith and culture to help people in need, to relieve misery and promote justice. Created in 2001, The Dear Neighbor Ministries serves the Hilltop neighborhood with direct financial assistance for rent, utilities, and transportation along with a community garden, and a food pantry. Sister Ann Catherine Burger, one of the two founding Sisters of St. Joseph, is the “heart” of this ministry.
Randy and Suzy Storms (posthumous)– Leadership through Faith Award honors an individual or couple whose faith is integral to civic leadership and addressing community issues. They work through a circle of influence, always mindful to act with kindness, respect, and goodwill to benefit all who live in our community.
Awards will be presented at the dinner on August 22 at the Beech Activity Center.
Advocates to End Chronic Homelessness (AECH) announced last fall that the 2011/12 winter would be the final year for their group to take the lead in the planning of the Winter Overflow Shelter. Inter-Faith Ministries, who has worked in partnership with AECH in the operation of the shelter, has agreed to assume that role.
During the November 2011 through March 2012, the Warming Souls Winter Shelter provided 470 individuals with a warm place to sleep totaling 11,243 bed nights and provided over 22,000 meals. IFM staff was able to place 101 people into permanent housing and 102 moved into established shelters.

Youth Challenge | May 23, 2013
A friendly competition among middle and high school youth that raises funds to help children in need. Teens participate in events like swimming, running, Mario Kart, Inter-Faith Jeopardy, and others. More importantly, they will have fun, meet others, and help provide food to hungry children.
